Nuclear density testing in Guyana.
A nuclear density gauge reads the in-place density and moisture of a compacted layer in minutes, so a layer can be accepted or reworked before the next goes on.
What it measures
In-place dry density and moisture content, reported as percent compaction of the Proctor maximum.
Used for
- Accepting each compacted layer of fill, sub-base, and base
- Roads, building pads, trench backfill, and hardstands
- Re-testing reworked areas until they pass
